Kevin Laube

Kevin was born in San Diego, California and grew up sailing at Mission Bay Yacht Club. After learning to race in Naples Sabots, he transitioned to Club 420s, CFJs, and Lasers.

As a sophomore in high school he travelled to Zadar, Croatia for International 420 Europeans. After sizing out of skippering 420s, Kevin transitioned to sailing Laser Radials. He spent the next summer training with Ryan Minth and at the end of the summer Kevin went on to win the Smythe singlehanded nationals in Lasers and CORK in Laser Radials.

Kevin went to Point Loma High School, where he sailed for the team. During his four years, the team finished 2nd at nationals four times, and during his senior year he lead the team to finish 2nd at fleet racing nationals and 1st at team racing nationals.

Kevin is currently attending Stanford University, where he sails for the varsity team. During his freshman year, he picked up match racing and sailed several regattas with Judge over the summer. He called tactics and trimmed main in J105s during Stanford’s win over Cal in the Big Sail match race, and J22s for Stanford’s third place finish at match race nationals.

In his free time, Kevin enjoys surfing in Santa Cruz. He is currently finishing up his sophomore year, and is majoring in Symbolic Systems.
